Boarding House Blues -1948

Old movies starring all black casts have intrigued me for years. Typically they are overally stereotypical and somewhat degrading, but more than often they feature the undeniably special talents of blacks during that time period.

I ran across Boarding House Blues today; a film that depicts a poor "family" living in a boarding house together. They find themselves in a pickle, unable to pay the rent one day, so they somehow convince a producer to help them put on a show so that they can make enough money to pay the rent.

The entire movie features awesome jazz and slapstick comedy. The famous Jackie "Moms" Mabley is a feature in this movie worth seeing.
